HDPE slip lining is the most common material used to slip line an existing pipe. The “carrier pipe” is inserted, either by pushing or pulling, into the larger ‘host pipe’. Grout is then inserted into the annular space between the two pipes, and then both the upstream and downstream ends are sealed.
Benefits of Grout in Place HDPE Slip Lining:
- HDPE can be welded into continuous pieces of any length, permitting a continuous slip lining process.
- HDPE is recognized for its flexibility and fully fused joints that deliver a fast cure, allowing the pipe to be repressurized within a few hours.
- Is easy to install and is a very cost- effective rehabilitation method that does not require excavation, except at selected locations.
- As the end product is a new pipe that is structurally independent of the host pipe, this process is considered more of a replacement technique.
The benefits of slip lining — as compared to replacement or repair using the open-cut and cover method — are that it causes less disturbance to the environment and less public inconvenience.
